The Talview Secure Browser (TSB) provides a secure, controlled environment for online assessments by restricting access to unauthorized applications and ensuring test integrity. If the Secure Browser isn’t installed properly, candidates may face issues launching or attending exams. This guide explains how to download, install, and troubleshoot TSB on macOS devices.

Where to Download

  • Ensure you download the macOS .dmg version.
  • TSB is also available for Windows via the Windows Store if supported in your region.
  • Avoid using third-party or copied installers.

How to Install the Secure Browser

  1. Download the .dmg file from the official Talview link.
  2. Open the .dmg file and drag the Talview Secure Browser into your Applications folder.
  3. Launch the Secure Browser and allow any permission prompts for Camera, Microphone, and Screen Recording.
  4. Open the assessment link provided in your invitation email using your web browser. When prompted, select the option to open the link in the Secure Browser. The assessment will then launch in the Secure Browser.
  5. If the Secure Browser does not open automatically, launch it manually. Copy the assessment link from your invitation email and paste it into the field requesting the assessment URL.
If your device is organization-managed, coordinate with your IT team to allow installation and permissions.Admin privileges are required to install or auto-update the Secure Browser.

The Secure Browser requires permission to access Camera, Microphone, and Screen Recording.
  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera / Microphone / Screen Recording.
  2. Turn On access for Talview Secure Browser.

How to Exit the Secure Browser

After submitting your test:
  • macOS: Press Command (⌘) + Q to exit the Secure Browser.
If you run into issues and need to close the Secure Browser, you can reopen the assessment using the same code you received in the email.

  • Restart your Mac and close unnecessary apps (Zoom, Teams, browsers) before launching SB.
  • Use a wired (Ethernet) connection for stable video streaming.
