✅ Understanding Bandwidth and Latency
- Bandwidth refers to the maximum rate of data transfer across a given path in the network, usually measured in megabits per second (Mbps). It determines how much data can be transmitted in a certain timeframe.
- Latency, on the other hand, is the delay before a transfer of data begins following an instruction for its transfer. It is typically measured in milliseconds (ms). High latency means a delay in communication over the network, which can lead to interruptions in online activities.
☑️ Recommended Bandwidth
When using Talview’s platform for video interviews, assessments, or any interactive features, it is essential to have an adequate internet connection. Here is the bandwidth recommendations based on typical use cases: 1. Video Interviews:- Recommended Upload/Download Speed: 2 Mbps
- Optimal Experience: 5 Mbps or higher
- Recommended Upload/Download Speed: 2-3 Mbps
- Optimal Experience: 5 Mbps or higher
- Recommended Upload Speed (for candidates): 1 Mbps
- Download Speed: Varies based on content but generally 1 Mbps is sufficient for streaming.
- Video Quality: Standard quality.
- Audio Quality: Clear and uninterrupted.
- For candidates using mobile devices, it’s recommended to have at least a 4G LTE connection to ensure fluid performance during assessments.
✅ Recommended Latency
Latency, measured in milliseconds (ms), refers to the time taken for data to travel from the source to the destination. The lower the latency, the better the performance of real-time applications. Talview’s minimum and recommended network requirements are:
Latency above 150 ms may cause noticeable delays in audio and video, and can affect the overall experience during live interviews, assessments, and interactive features.
