Interview Insights brings together everything you need to assess a candidate in one place, the AI-generated summary, strengths, areas of improvement, competency scores, discussion points, and the full interview recording. Rather than evaluating based on memory or scattered notes, Talview lets you build your assessment using structured, data-backed insights. In this article, you will learn how to use the different components of Interview Insights together to form a thorough evaluation of a candidate’s performance.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have:
  • Logged in to Workflow Tools with your evaluator credentials.
  • Open the Interview Summary page for a candidate with a completed interview.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Start with the Interview Summary On the Overview tab in the right panel, begin by reading the Interview Summary at the top.
  • This gives you a high-level snapshot of the entire session, what the candidate demonstrated, where they struggled, and how the interview concluded.
  • Use this as your starting point to frame the rest of your review.
2. Go through the Key Discussion Points Review the Key Discussion Points section for a topic-by-topic breakdown of the interview.
  • Each point shows the topic discussed and how the candidate responded.
  • Reading this section early gives you the full context of what was covered before reviewing the Strengths and Areas of Improvement.
3. Review the Strengths and Areas of Improvement Scroll to the Strengths and Areas of Improvement sections.
  • Read through both sections to understand what the candidate did well and where they need development.
  • Pay attention to how each point relates to the core requirements of the role. For a quick reference, click the Job Description Preview icon in the top-right action bar.
  • If a particular strength or area of improvement seems unclear, the corresponding discussion point from the previous step will provide the full context.
4. Check the Recommended Next Steps Review the Recommended Next Steps section to see what the AI suggests as follow-up actions.
  • These might include re-running a specific exercise, requesting additional work samples, or clarifying claims the candidate made during the interview.
  • Factor these into your assessment, if the AI recommends significant follow-up, that may signal areas where the candidate’s performance was inconclusive rather than clearly strong or in need of improvement.
5. Review the Candidate Performance scores Scroll to the bottom of the Overview tab and expand the Candidate Performance section.
  • Review the competency-wise scores to see how the candidate performed across individual skill areas.
  • Cross-reference these scores with the Strengths and Areas of Improvement. A low score in a particular competency should align with a specific area of improvement called out earlier, giving you confidence that the assessment is consistent.
6. Watch the interview recording for additional context In the left panel, click the Play button to watch the full interview recording.
  • You don’t need to watch the entire session. Focus on the moments that relate to the strengths, areas of improvement, or discussion points you want to verify.
  • The recording captures the full conversation flow, including tone, hesitations, and how the candidate responded under pressure, details that a written summary can’t fully convey.
7. Reference the candidate’s resume To check whether the candidate’s interview performance aligns with what’s on their resume, click the Resume Preview icon in the top-right action bar.
  • This opens a preview of the candidate’s resume without leaving the Interview Summary page.
  • Compare the candidate’s claimed experience with how they actually performed on related topics during the interview.
8. Submit your evaluation Once you’ve reviewed all the available insights, click the Evaluate button in the top-right corner.
  • A side panel will open where you can write your comments, fill out an evaluation form (if one is configured), and give your recommendation: Select, Turn Down, or Hold.
  • Your evaluation will be informed by the full range of data points you’ve just reviewed, making it more thorough and evidence-based than relying on notes or memory alone.

Additional Tips
  • You don’t have to review every section in the order listed above. The Overview tab is fully scrollable and all sections are collapsible, focus on the areas most relevant to the role and your evaluation criteria first.
  • The candidate’s evaluation status is displayed in the top bar. If you’ve already submitted an evaluation and want to revisit it, you can view and edit your submitted evaluation from the candidate’s detail view.
  • Use the navigation arrows (< and >) at the top of the page to move to the next candidate’s Interview Insights without returning to the candidate list. This is especially useful when evaluating multiple candidates for the same role in a single sitting.
  • The Verification tab is available alongside the Overview tab if you need to confirm the candidate’s face authentication status before finalizing your evaluation.
