During a Live Interview, maintaining the authenticity of the candidate’s video feed is essential. If a virtual camera (such as OBS Virtual Camera, Snap Camera, ManyCam, etc.) is detected on the candidate’s device, the platform immediately notifies within the interview interface.

How is the Evaluator Notified?

When a virtual camera is detected:
  • A pop-up alert appears at the center of the interview screen.
  • The alert clearly states: “Virtual camera detected on candidate’s device.”
  • The specific camera name is displayed (for example: ManyCam Virtual Webcam (Windows Virtual Camera)).
  • You must acknowledge the alert by clicking “Ok, got it” to continue.
This notification is shown in real time during the Live Interview session.

What Does This Mean?

A virtual camera is a software-based camera feed that can:
  • Modify or overlay video content
  • Display pre-recorded or manipulated video
  • Mask the candidate’s actual camera feed
Detection does not automatically stop the interview, but it indicates that the candidate is not using a physical hardware camera.
  1. Inform the candidate that a virtual camera has been detected.
  2. Request the candidate to switch to a physical camera (built-in or external webcam).
  3. Confirm that the live video feed reflects the candidate in real time.
  4. If the issue persists, follow your organization’s interview integrity or escalation guidelines.

Important Notes

  • The alert is informational and designed to support interview integrity.
  • The session will not automatically end due to this detection.
  • The Evaluator retains full discretion to proceed or escalate as per internal policy.
If you continue to see the alert even after the candidate switches devices, ask them to refresh the session and ensure all virtual camera software is completely disabled.
