Why Does This Happen?

Most video applications like Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams can lock your camera, making it unavailable to other apps. If one of these apps is running in the background or actively using your camera, Talview will not be able to access it.

How to Resolve Camera Conflicts?

Follow these steps to ensure your camera is available for the session -

1. Close Conflicting Applications:

  • Windows:
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
    • Under the Processes tab, look for applications like Zoom, Meet, Skype, or Teams and other video conferencing or video tools.
    • Right-click each app and select End Task.
  • Mac:
    • Press Command + Option + Esc to open the Force Quit window.
    • Select any video conferencing apps and click Force Quit.

2. Check for Background Processes:

Sometimes, even after closing the application window, background processes may continue running.
  • Windows: Open Task Manager and look for video apps using the camera and close them.
  • Mac: Use Activity Monitor to identify and close any background apps using the camera.

3. Restart Your Browser:

Restart your browser to release any camera resources that might still be occupied by previously opened applications. Perform a system restart if closing the apps manually doesn’t resolve the issue.
