Tips for recording a great video response during your Talview Asynchronous Assessment include preparing your answer, setting up a distraction‑free environment, and speaking clearly and confidently to the camera. Following these simple steps helps you make a strong impression even without a live interviewer present.

Understand the assessment format

  • You will see one question at a time and will have limited time to think and then record your answer, so read the on‑screen instructions carefully before you start.
  • Some questions may allow only one attempt and a fixed response duration, so keep an eye on the timer and aim to finish a few seconds early.

Get your environment ready

  • Choose a quiet, well‑lit space where you are unlikely to be interrupted and keep your background clean and professional.
  • Avoid strong backlight from windows; position the light source in front of you so your face is clearly visible in the video.

Check your device, camera, and mic

  • Use a stable internet connection and ensure your device is plugged in or sufficiently charged before you begin the assessment.
  • During the system check or practice question, confirm that your camera frames your head and shoulders and that your microphone captures your voice clearly without distortion.

Plan your answers briefly

  • Before you hit record, quickly structure your response with a short intro, 2–3 key points, and a brief closing sentence so your answer is focused.
  • If practice or retakes are allowed, use one attempt to get comfortable with the timing and refine how you present your main points.
NOTE: Take advantage of the practice session to become comfortable with the platform and its features before the actual assessment.

Present yourself professionally

  • Dress in neat, work‑appropriate clothing and sit upright, looking into the camera to simulate eye contact with the evaluator.
  • Speak a little slower than normal conversation, articulate your words clearly, and avoid filler words or long pauses to keep your response easy to follow.

Body language and on‑screen behavior

  • Keep your movements minimal by sitting still, avoiding fidgeting, and keeping your hands away from your face so the focus stays on what you are saying.
  • Maintain a neutral, friendly facial expression and nod occasionally to show engagement without exaggerating gestures.

During the countdown and recording

  • Use the countdown to sit still, adjust your posture, and ensure your eyes are level with the camera so you appear composed and ready.
  • Quickly mentally rehearse the question text again during the countdown.
  • Start with a calm, confident opening line (for example, restating the core of the question in your own words) to set up a clear direction for your answer.
  • If you lose your train of thought, pause briefly, take a breath, and continue rather than stopping the recording; a short pause is acceptable, but long silences are not.
If something goes wrong
  • If you face technical issues (for example, your camera or mic stops working), stop and follow on‑screen troubleshooting steps.
  • Do not refresh or close the browser unless the instructions specifically recommend it; doing so may end your current question or session depending on the test configuration.
