When you click the Export button in Talview’s Workflow Tools, you expect a complete report with all candidate assessment data. However, sometimes the downloaded xlsx file contains incomplete information or appears entirely blank, making it difficult to review candidate performance and make informed hiring decisions. This article helps recruiters troubleshoot and resolve issues when exported assessment data is incomplete, missing, or blank.

🔎 Troubleshooting Common Issues

What might be wrongHow to fix it
Browser cache or download interruptionClear your browser cache and cookies, then retry the export.
Ensure your internet connection is stable throughout the download process.
File downloaded but didn’t open correctlyLocate the downloaded xlsx file in your Downloads folder and open it with a spreadsheet application (Excel, Google Sheets).
The file may have downloaded successfully but didn’t auto open.
Assessment scores are still being processedAllow 10-15 minutes after the last candidate submission for the system to calculate scores, especially for coding assessments or multi-section tests.
Refresh the page and try exporting again
CSV file is corrupted during downloadIf the file appears blank when opened, try re-downloading it.
Check your Downloads folder for multiple versions of the file and ensure your antivirus software isn’t blocking or quarantining the download

Additional Tips:

  • Try exporting a smaller date range or subset of candidates first to isolate whether the issue is related to data volume or specific candidate records.
  • If the CSV opens but the file is blank despite candidates completing the assessment, check whether evaluation has been completed.
  • Try using a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) if the export consistently fails, as browser-specific issues can sometimes interfere with file downloads.
