When candidates begin an assessment, but their status remains “Invited” in your recruiter dashboard, it disrupts your ability to track progress and manage the hiring workflow effectively. This article helps you identify why a candidate’s status isn’t updating correctly and provides solutions to resolve the issue.

🔎 Troubleshooting Common Issues

What Might Be WrongHow to Fix It
Candidate didn’t complete the assessment setupContact the candidate to confirm they proceeded past the initial instructions page.
The status update happens when the candidate lands on the instruction page.
Browser session timeout or interruptionAsk the candidate to clear their browser cache, restart their browser, and attempt the assessment again using the original invitation link.
System synchronization delayWait 5-10 minutes and refresh your recruiter dashboard. If the status still doesn’t update, check the candidate’s activity logs under their profile for assessment start timestamps.
Technical issues on candidate’s endVerify the candidate meets minimum system requirements (stable internet connection, supported browser version).
Ask them to try a different device or network if possible.

Additional Tips:

  • Access the candidate’s detailed activity logs in the Assessment module to see if any test interactions were recorded, even if the status didn’t update.
  • Confirm the candidate received the invitation email and didn’t access an outdated link from a previous invitation
  • Send yourself a test invitation to replicate the candidate experience and identify where the status update might be failing.
  • If multiple candidates show this problem, contact Talview support as it may indicate a broader system issue requiring technical intervention
