CodeJam is an integrated coding environment within Talview Interview Rooms. It enables collaborative, live coding assessments during technical interviews. This guide explains how interviewers can access and use CodeJam during an ongoing interview session.

Prerequisites

  • An active Talview interview session with a scheduled interview.
  • Interviewer role with access to Interview Room features.
  • A stable internet connection for smooth real-time interaction.

Steps to Switch to CodeJam

1. Join the Interview Room

  • Log in to Talview and open the scheduled interview session.

2. Locate the CodeJam Icon

  • Find the CodeJam icon on the interview toolbar (usually at the bottom-left).
  • The icon resembles a code bracket (</>) or terminal symbol.

3. Open CodeJam

  • Click the CodeJam button to launch the coding environment.
  • The video feed will automatically resize or minimize to display the coding panel.

4. Set Up the Coding Problem

  • Upload or open pre-prepared coding problems, or start with a blank workspace.
  • Share problem instructions verbally or via chat.

5. Collaborate with the Candidate

  • CodeJam allows real-time collaboration.
  • Both interviewer and candidate can edit the code simultaneously.

6. Use Coding Tools

  • Multiple language options
  • Syntax highlighting
  • Auto-completion

7. Exit CodeJam

  • To return to the main video/audio interview mode, click Exit CodeJam or the close button on the toolbar.

Supported Browsers and Devices

  • Browsers: Latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge.
  • Devices: Desktop or laptop recommended. (Mobile devices have limited functionality.)

Tips for Interviewers

  • Prepare coding problems in advance for smoother transitions.
  • Clearly explain the expectations and problem requirements.
  • Use Code Jam’s built-in tools to monitor progress and support candidates.
  • Switch back to video mode once the coding assessment is complete
