The Interview Insights page includes the full interview recording alongside the AI-generated analysis. Rather than relying solely on the written insights, you can play back specific moments from the session to verify key data points, pick up on nuances like tone and hesitation, and build a more confident evaluation. In this article, you will learn how to use Talview’s interview playback in combination with the Interview Insights sections.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have:
  • Logged in to Workflow Tools with your evaluator credentials.
  • Opened the Interview Summary page for a candidate with a completed interview.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Identify what to verify Before playing the recording, review the Overview tab - specifically the Key Discussion Points, Strengths, and Areas of Improvement sections.
  • Note any points that seem unclear, surprising, or that you want more context on. These are the moments worth revisiting in the recording.
2. Play back the recording In the left panel, click the Play button to start the interview recording.
  • You don’t need to watch the entire session. Use the Key Discussion Points as a guide to locate the specific moments you want to verify.
  • The recording captures details that a written summary cannot - tone, pauses, how the candidate recovered after a mistake, and how they responded to follow-up questions.
3. Cross-reference with the Transcript Switch to the Transcript tab to read the exact words spoken during the session.
  • Use the timestamps in the transcript to locate specific exchanges quickly, then play back that portion of the recording for the full context.
4. Factor your findings into your evaluation After verifying the moments that matter most, click the Evaluate button in the top-right corner to submit your assessment.
  • Reference specific evidence from both the insights and the recording in your comments. For example, rather than writing “the candidate struggled with linked lists,” note that the candidate was unable to articulate the pointer logic despite guided prompting - as captured in the Areas of Improvement and confirmed in the recording.

Additional Tips
  • Even revisiting two or three key moments from the recording can significantly increase the accuracy of your evaluation. A full rewatch is rarely necessary.
  • If you notice a discrepancy between the AI-generated insights and what you hear in the recording, mention it in your evaluation comments. This helps the hiring team get a complete picture.
  • The candidate’s resume is available via the Resume Preview icon in the top-right action bar if you want to cross-reference claims while watching the recording.
