Overview
Talview integrates with Cleverbridge, a Merchant of Record (MoR) platform, to simplify global exam payment collection and ensure tax compliance for exams, assessments, and certification bookings. With this integration:- Candidates can complete payments securely using Cleverbridge’s hosted checkout.
- Talview automatically tracks and updates candidate booking and payment status.
- Global tax handling (VAT, GST, Sales Tax) is managed by Cleverbridge in compliance with local laws.
1. How the Integration Works
a. Booking & Payment Flow
- Candidate Books an Exam → Candidate selects a slot on Talview.
The sequence is configurable within Talview. Customers can choose whether candidates book their e slot before payment or after completing payment, based on their preferred workflow.
- Redirect to Cleverbridge Checkout → Candidate is redirected to Cleverbridge’s hosted checkout page. → Pricing, taxes, and localization (currency, language) are automatically handled.
- Payment Processing → Cleverbridge processes the payment using the candidate’s selected payment method. → Taxes are calculated and applied automatically.

Transaction Completion
- If Payment Successful → Talview marks the payment status as Confirmed and automatically sends an invoice to the candidate.
- If Payment Failed → Cleverbridge redirects the candidate back to Talview. The candidate’s slot remains reserved for a limited period, during which they can retry the payment.
- If Payment Pending → Payments may remain in a Pending state for up to 24 hours. Transactions that require additional authorization or review are held until Cleverbridge completes verification and shares the final status with Talview.

Status Sync to Talview
→ Cleverbridge sends real-time webhooks to Talview’s backend for:
- Payment success
- Payment failure
- Partial refund/complete refund or chargeback events
b. Taxes & Compliance
- Cleverbridge determines the buyer’s tax location automatically via billing address and IP.
- The correct VAT/GST/Sales Tax is applied per jurisdiction.
- Talview receives payment confirmation data but not tax filing data (handled by Cleverbridge as MoR).

Cleverbridge supports multiple payment options globally, with localized availability:- Credit/Debit Cards – Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, Diners Club
- PayPal – Available globally
3. Refunds and Disputes
- Refunds are initiated through Cleverbridge’s dashboard or API.
- Talview can trigger a full or partial refund event via API if a candidate cancels an exam within allowed policy timelines.
- Cleverbridge processes the refund to the original payment method and updates Talview via webhook.
- Chargebacks or disputes raised by customers are handled directly by Cleverbridge.
