Introduction

The Proview extension, developed by Talview Inc., integrates the “Proview” proctoring solution into Totara LMS. Proview Proctoring Browser Extension is designed to deliver a secure, seamless, and efficient proctoring experience directly through your web browser. This cutting-edge extension provides robust SCORM package integrity measures and unparalleled convenience, setting a new standard in online proctoring. This extension continuously evolves with frequent feature enhancements.

Capabilities

  • Seamless and user-friendly integration: Proview integrates effortlessly Totara LMS, ensuring a smooth setup process. The browser-based extension is easy to install and use, eliminating the need for complex software installations and making it accessible to a wide range of users.
  • Recorded proctoring: Through advanced video & audio analytics, the Proview system monitors the feeds for any suspicious activity. It ensures candidate focuses on test screen during the test and checks for suspicious objects in video and background voice activity to red flag the test.
  • Record & Review: This fully automated, AI-enabled application authenticates test takers, tracks, and records their behaviors, and flags critical events. After the SCORM package concludes, our highly trained proctors, or those provided by you, can quickly review and confirm any event flags before certifying the validity of the SCORM package and authenticity of test takers.

Supported Browsers and Operating Systems

Note: Ensure to keep your browser and OS updated to one of these supported versions to prevent any potential issues during proctoring sessions.
Proview Proctoring solutions are supported on the following browsers: Proview Proctoring solutions are supported on the following operating systems:
  • Windows Devices: Windows 10 and Windows 11
  • Apple Devices: macOS Sonoma

Steps

1. Open the desired course
  • Log in to your Totara LMS account.
  • Navigate to the course where the SCORM package is available.
  • Enable Editing Mode.
2. Access the SCORM package
  • Locate the SCORM package you want to configure for and click it.
3. Access Proview Proctoring panel
  • Once the SCORM package settings page loads, click the Proview Proctoring icon.
  • The Proctoring Configuration Panel will appear on the right-hand side.
4. Configure proctoring options
  • Select the Proview Token and the desired Proctoring Type from the dropdown menus.
  • Optionally, enter Candidate Instructions in the respective field.
6. Save final configurations
  • After finalizing all configurations, click the Save button.
  • The SCORM package is now configured for Proview Proctoring.

Assumptions

  • The course administrator has the necessary permissions to configure SCORM package settings within Totara LMS.
  • The Proview browser extension is installed on the computers of all students who will be taking the SCORM package. Or instruction is provided as part of SCORM package descriptions to install the Proview browser extension
  • The administrator has the Proview Browser extension installed and is familiar with basic navigation and operations within the Totara LMS platform.

Limitations

  • Extension requirement for instructors: If the Proview proctoring extension is not installed, the SCORM package proctoring settings section will not appear. While the course admin is aware of this requirement, instructors may not be. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the course admin to inform all instructors within the organization to install the Proview extension on their systems to enable proctoring settings.
  • Manual proctoring termination: A stop proctoring button is required because proctoring cannot be stopped automatically as the SCORM package is loaded in an iframe.
  • iPad not supported: Proview proctoring is not supported on iPad devices. Test takers attempting to take a proctored session on any web browser on their iPad will not be able to do so.
  • Chatbot support removed: The chatbot (freshchat) support feature has been removed, which means candidates can no longer use the chatbot to communicate with the support team. However, a link to chat with Talview Technical Support will be present.
  • Secure browser availability: SB and its features like screen protection & app blacklisting are not available for configuration yet.
