Secure Browser

Talview’s application runs in modern web browsers or via the Secure Browser (SB). SB is compatible with both Windows and macOS.

Availability

Supported on Windows and macOS. Not supported on Linux — Linux users must use standard browser-based assessments (non-SB mode).

Installation considerations

Organization-managed devices may block SB via policy restrictions or admin lockout — coordinate with IT teams in advance to allow installation and updates. Users must have administrator privileges to install and auto-update SB, and must grant Camera, Microphone, and Screen Recording permissions before launching SB.

Auto-update behavior

Checks for updates at each launch, then downloads and installs the latest version automatically before the test.

Granting device permissions

Windows: Settings → Privacy → Camera / Microphone / Screen Recording. macOS: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera / Microphone / Screen Recording, and manually enable access for Secure Browser. Failure to grant permissions will prevent exam sessions from launching successfully. For firewall and network prerequisites to run SB, see Network Requirements.
