# How to request and use an accommodation for your exam?

If you need adjustments for your exam, such as extra time, additional breaks, or permission for religious attire, you can request them as accommodations. In this article, you will request an accommodation and know what to expect when you take your exam on Talview.

#### Before You Begin

Make sure you have:

* Your exam details, including the exam name and date.
* Contact details for your exam coordinator.

#### Step-by-Step Guide

1. **Request your accommodation**\
   Contact your exam coordinator before your exam.
   * Explain the adjustment you need, such as extra time, additional breaks, or religious attire.
   * Send your request well before your exam date, so there’s time for approval.
2. **Wait for approval**\
   Your exam coordinator reviews your request.
   * Once approved, your accommodation is applied to your exam session.
   * Your proctor is informed of the accommodation, so you don’t need to explain it during your exam.
3. **Take your exam**\
   Start your exam as usual.
   * You don’t need to request your accommodation again on the exam day.
4. **If your accommodation seems to be missing**\
   If something doesn’t match your approved accommodation, for example the timer doesn’t show your extra time:
   * Click **Need Help** to let the proctor know.
   * Don’t close or refresh your exam window.
