# How to request candidates to turn on their video during a Live interview

During a Live Interview, Interviewers can request candidates to **Turn On** their video if it is currently disabled, ensuring better engagement and visibility throughout the interview session.

## How to Request a Candidate to Turn On Their Video

<div style={{ position:"relative",paddingBottom:"calc(54.02777777777777% + 41px)",height:0,width:"600px",margin:"0 auto" }}>
  <iframe src="https://demo.arcade.software/X29pcl3fQICh8PCbprEl?embed&embed_mobile=tab&embed_desktop=inline&show_copy_link=true" title="Request Candidates to Turn On Their Video" frameBorder="0" loading="lazy" webkitAllowFullScreen mozAllowFullScreen allowFullScreen allow="clipboard-write" style={{ position:"absolute",top:0,left:0,width:"100%",height:"100%",colorScheme:"light" }} />
</div>

### Step 1: Identify the Candidate with Video Off

* In the live interview screen, locate the candidate tile showing initials instead of video
* A **Request Video** button appears on the candidate tile

### Step 2: Send a Video Request

* Click **Request Video** on the candidate’s tile
* After the request is sent, the candidate tile displays **Video Requested**

> **Note**: This indicates that the request is active and awaiting candidate action

### Step 3: Candidate Receives Notification

* Once submitted, the candidate immediately receives an in-interview notification prompting them to enable their camera
* The candidate can choose to turn on their video from their end

## What Happens If the Candidate Denies the Request

If the candidate chooses not to enable their video:

* The interviewer cannot force-enable the camera
* The session continues without candidate video
* The **Video Requested** status may clear depending on system behavior
* The interviewer may choose to:
  * Verbally follow up for clarification
  * Continue the interview without video
  * Escalate based on organizational interview policy

> **Note**: Camera activation is always controlled by the candidate for privacy and consent reasons.

<Note>
  ### Important Notes

  * Only a request notification is sent; final control remains with the candidate
  * Repeated requests may not trigger multiple immediate notifications
  * Video availability depends on device, browser, and permission settings
</Note>
