# How does the Pre-join Lobby work for interviewers on the web

The Pre-Join Lobby allows the interviewer to prepare and adjust all required settings before entering the session.

1. Upon entering the Pre-Join Lobby, **allow access to your microphone and camera**.
   Note: If your browser or system permissions for camera and microphone are not enabled, you will not be able to join the meeting.
   Please follow the steps in [Allowing Hardware Permissions](https://www.notion.so/527fd096e82b4646826e2779d12421de?pvs=21) to grant necessary access.
2. Choose your preferred **video and audio devices** for the meeting.
3. Configure your **camera and microphone settings : yo**u can mute or unmute your mic and turn your camera on or off before joining the session.
4. You can also choose to blur your background or apply branded images(if needed) by clicking on the **“Effects "option.**
5. When you're ready for the interview, click on '**Join Interview'** to start the session.
6. You may remain in the Pre-Join Lobby or enter the meeting and wait there until the candidate joins.
7. The lobby displays the **number of participants** already in the meeting.
