# How to add a center to an exam

Centers are the physical locations where candidates sit for their exam. Before candidates can book a slot at a center, the center must first be assigned to the exam. Talview's Coordinator Console lets you add existing centers to an exam directly from the Centers tab. In this article, you will learn how to add a center to an exam in the Coordinator Console.

**Before You Beign:**

Make sure you have:

* Coordinator role access on your Talview account.
* An active exam to assign centers to.
* At least one center already configured in your tenant. Centers are set up by your platform administrator, you cannot create new centers from this screen.

### Step-by-Step Guide

**1. Open the exam from the Exams list**

From the Coordinator Console, navigate to the **Exams** section using the left sidebar. Click on the exam you want to add centers to.

**2. Go to the Centers tab**

Inside the exam, click the **Centers** tab. This shows all centers currently assigned to the exam. If no centers have been added yet, the tab will be empty.

**3. Click + Add Center**

In the top-right area of the Centers tab, click **+ Add Center**. This opens the **Add Existing Center** modal.

**4. Configure the center assignment**

In the modal, fill in the following:

* **Select Exam Step** - choose the assessment step this center will be assigned to. For multi-step exams, you can assign different centers to different steps.
* **Guest Capacity** - optionally set the number of guest seats available at this center for this exam. Leave blank to use the center's default capacity.

**5. Select the centers**

The modal displays a searchable list of all available centers in your tenant, each showing the center name and location. Select one or more centers by checking the checkbox next to each.

**6. Click Add**

Click **Add** to confirm. The modal closes and the selected centers appear in the Centers table with their details, including center name, type, step, status, location, contact, capacity, and booking distribution.

  **Additional Tips**

  * You can add multiple centers at once by selecting multiple checkboxes before clicking Add.
  * Adding a center to an exam only maps it to that exam, it does not change the center's original configuration or affect its availability in other exams.
  * If the center you need is not in the list, contact your platform administrator to have it configured in the tenant.
  * You can remove a center from the exam at any time from the Centers tab if it is no longer needed.
  * If you are unable to see any centers in the list, reach out to your customer support manager to have them configured for your tenant.
