# How to talk to an avatar in the Ivy Avatar Builder

Before publishing an avatar, you can preview how it sounds and interacts by starting a live conversation with it. In this article, you will learn how to start and end a preview call with an avatar.

1. On the avatar's profile screen, click **Talk to \[Avatar Name]**, for example, **Talk to Jonathan Roberts**.
2. Enter your name in the **Enter your name** field. This is how you'll be presented in the call.
3. Click **Continue**.
4. On the **Are you ready to join?** screen, review your camera and microphone settings. Turn on your camera and microphone if needed.
5. Click **Join** to start the call.
6. Talk to the avatar to preview its conversational style, tone, and how it responds.
7. When you're done, click **Leave** to end the call and return to the avatar's profile screen.

  **Additional Tips**

  * If the conversation doesn't start, you may need to relog in, as your session may have expired.
  * After previewing the call, you can go back and make edits to the persona if the tone or responses don't match what you expect, then start a new call to test the updated version.
