# How to publish an avatar in the Ivy Avatar Builder

Once you've finished creating or editing an avatar's persona, you can publish it to make it available for use in interviews and other Ivy sessions. In this article, you will learn how to publish an avatar and what happens after publishing.

#### Before you begin

* The **Publish** button is only enabled when there are unsaved edits or newly updated sections on the avatar's profile.

#### Step-by-step guide

<div style={{ position:"relative",paddingBottom:"calc(54.02777777777777% + 41px)",height:0,width:"600px",margin:"0 auto" }}>
  <iframe src="https://demo.arcade.software/2XbgrG7Yj5uPCkPZo7Gy?embed&embed_mobile=tab&embed_desktop=inline&show_copy_link=true" title="Publish an avatar in the Ivy Avatar Builder" frameBorder="0" loading="lazy" webkitAllowFullScreen mozAllowFullScreen allowFullScreen allow="clipboard-write" style={{ position:"absolute",top:0,left:0,width:"100%",height:"100%",colorScheme:"light" }} />
</div>

1. On the avatar's profile screen, click **Publish**.
2. The system saves your changes and validates that all required fields, such as **Name**, **About**, and **Experience**, are complete.
3. Once published, you'll see a confirmation screen: **"Persona published"**, along with a message that the avatar is now live and ready to collaborate with your hiring teams.
4. From here, you can either:
   * Click **Create assessment** to use the avatar in an assessment right away, or
   * Click **Back to dashboard** to return to the Avatar Dashboard.
5. The published avatar now appears on the **Avatar Dashboard**, listed below the input box.

  **Additional Tips**

  * If the publish action fails due to a network or system issue, you'll see a message asking you to try again later.
  * Publishing always saves your most recent edits, so no changes are lost.
  * Once published, the avatar moves from **Draft** to **Published** status and can be used in interview simulations, coaching sessions, or other Ivy experiences.
