# How to edit an avatar's persona in Advanced Mode

Advanced Mode lets you make precise, direct edits to an avatar's persona instead of relying on the chat interface. In this article, you will learn how to switch to Advanced Mode and edit an avatar's profile fields, as well as how to make edits directly from the chat panel.

#### Before you begin

* Edits made in Advanced Mode overwrite the AI-generated persona directly and cannot be undone.

#### Step-by-step guide

1. On the avatar's profile screen, toggle **Advanced mode** at the top of the screen.
2. The profile switches to an editable layout. You'll see a warning banner: *"Edits saved here are irreversible and will overwrite the AI's core persona."*
3. Edit any of the following fields directly:
   * **About section**
   * **Experience section** (each entry can be edited individually)
   * **Expertise tags**
   * **Location** (optional)
4. To change the avatar's visual, click **Change avatar** below the profile photo.
5. Once you're done, click **Save** to apply your changes, or **Cancel** to discard them and return to the previous profile view.
6. To switch back to chat-based editing, toggle **Advanced mode** off to return to **Guided Mode**.

<Tip>
  Alternatively, you can make edits directly from the chat panel on the right:

  1. In the chat panel, Livy asks, **"What would you like to do next?"** with quick options: **edit name**, **edit about**, **edit experience**, **edit skills**, or **everything good**.
  2. Click the option for the section you want to update.
  3. Follow Livy's prompts to make your changes.
