# Ivy Avatar Builder FAQs

Ivy Avatar Builder lets you create and manage AI interviewer personas for your hiring process. This FAQ covers accessing the builder, creating and customizing an avatar, and publishing it for use in interviews.

Use this guide as a quick reference to get unstuck at any step of the process.

### 1. Getting started

**Q1. How do I access the Ivy Avatar Builder?**

Go to the direct Ivy Avatar Builder URL. It isn't yet linked in the sidebar navigation, so you'll need to bookmark the URL for quick access.

**Q2. Who can access the Ivy Avatar Builder?**

You must be logged in as a Master Content Manager or Content Manager.

**Q3. What persona types can I create?**

Currently, only the **Interviewer** persona type is supported. Other types, such as coach, evaluator, or trainer, aren't available yet.

### 2. Creating and refining an avatar

**Q1. How do I create an avatar?**

Click the **Interviewer** suggestion chip on the Avatar Dashboard, then answer Livy's questions about the job title, industry, and years of experience. Livy generates a list of recommended avatars based on your answers.

**Q2. Can I see more avatar recommendations if none of them fit?**

Yes. Click **Show more avatars** to browse additional options.

**Q3. How do I refine an avatar's details after it's created?**

Use the chat panel on the right side of the screen. Select the section you want to update, such as **Edit About Section**, **Update Experience**, or **Modify Expertise Tags**, then tell Livy what to change.

> 💡 Tip: You can refine multiple sections one after another in the same chat session.

**Q4. Can I edit an avatar's details directly instead of using chat?**

Yes. Turn on **Advanced mode** on the avatar's profile screen to edit the **About**, **Experience**, **Expertise tags**, and **Location** fields directly.

**Q5. How do I change an avatar's visual?**

Turn on **Advanced mode**, then click **Change avatar** below the profile photo. Select a new visual from the gallery and click **Select**. You'll also need to update the avatar's name and About section separately, since these don't update automatically.

### 3. Publishing and using an avatar

**Q1. How do I preview how an avatar sounds and interacts before publishing?**

Click **Talk to \[Avatar Name]** on the avatar's profile screen to start a live preview call.

**Q2. How do I publish an avatar?**

Click **Publish** on the avatar's profile screen. Once published, the avatar appears on the Avatar Dashboard and can be used in interview simulations and other Ivy sessions.

**Q3. Can I edit an avatar after it's published?**

Yes. Turn on **Advanced mode** and make your changes, then click **Publish** again to save them. Editing a published avatar overwrites its existing details.

**Q4. What happens if I make edits but don't publish?**

Your changes are discarded. If you click **Go back** without publishing, the avatar reverts to its last published state, or doesn't appear at all if it was never published.
