# How to use the playback controls in the activity playback
When reviewing a session in the **Activity Playback** tab, the playback controls at the bottom of the player let you manage how you watch the recording, so you can move through it at your own pace and focus on the moments that matter.

### Step-by-step guide
**1. Play or pause the recording** Click the **pause** icon to stop the recording at any point. Click it again to resume.
**2. Adjust the playback speed** Click any speed option - **1x**, **2x**, **4x**, or **8x** to control how fast the recording plays. Use higher speeds to move through inactive periods quickly.
**3. Skip inactive periods** Toggle **skip inactive** on to automatically skip periods where no activity was detected, so you only watch the moments where the candidate was active.
**4. Maximize the player** Click the **maximize** icon (↗) in the bottom right to expand the activity playback to full screen for a closer look.
**Additional Tips**
* Use **skip inactive** together with a higher playback speed to move through long sessions efficiently.
* The seekbar at the bottom shows your current position in the recording, click or drag it to jump to any point.
