# Why jailbroken or rooted devices are not supported?

If your device is **jailbroken (iOS)** or **rooted (Android)**, you will not be able to start or continue a Talview interview or proctored assessment. These devices fail system checks because they bypass essential security controls required to maintain exam integrity and fairness.

In this article, we explain why jailbroken or rooted devices are blocked, how this impacts your session, and what you can do to proceed.

## ✅ Common causes and fixes

## 🛠 What to do before your assessment or interview?

* Switch to a **non-rooted Android** or **non-jailbroken iOS** device
* Avoid using devices that were previously modified, even if the changes seem minor
* Complete the **system check in advance** to confirm device compatibility
* If you cannot access a compliant device, **contact your test coordinator** for guidance

  Once a device is detected as jailbroken or rooted, the restriction **cannot be bypassed** during the session. Using a compliant device is the only way to proceed.
