# Why is Screen share not available on work devices?

If you are attempting to take an assessment or an interview on a company issued or IT-managed device, screen sharing may be unavailable due to administrator level security restrictions. Many organizations disable screen capture, recording, or sharing features to protect sensitive data. These restrictions can prevent the platform from verifying your activity, which may result in warnings, delays, or an inability to continue the session.

Understanding why this happens and choosing the right setup in advance can help you avoid last-minute disruptions.

## ✅ Use the Right Device

| **Restricted devices**                                   | **Recommended alternatives**                                |
| :------------------------------------------------------- | :---------------------------------------------------------- |
| Corporate or office-issued laptops with admin locks | Personal laptop or desktop with full system access |
| Devices managed by IT policies or MDM tools | Devices where you can modify browser and system permissions |
| Systems with endpoint protection blocking screen capture | Devices with screen sharing and recording enabled |

## ✅ Setup Guidelines

Before starting your assessment or interview, confirm the following:

* Use a supported browser with full screen-sharing capabilities: **Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Mozilla Firefox**
* Avoid **incognito/private browsing mode**, as it can block required permissions
* Disable or remove **browser extensions** that interfere with permissions (privacy blockers, security tools, screen recorders)

### 🔧System Permissions Check

* **On macOS:**\
  Go to `System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording`, and ensure your browser is enabled
* **On Windows:**\
  Open `Settings → Privacy`, and verify that screen capture and screen sharing are allowed for apps and browsers
