# Why can’t I share a specific application window?

If you are unable to share a single application window during a screen-sharing session, browser or system permissions in Talview may be limiting what can be captured.

This checklist helps you identify common causes and apply quick fixes before your session begins.

## ✅ Common Causes and Fixes

| Application window not visible in share options | Ensure the application is already open and not minimized before starting screen share.                                  |
| Entire screen shares instead of one window      | Select the “Application Window” or “Window” tab in the screen share picker instead of “Entire Screen.”                  |
| Screen share permissions not granted            | Check browser site settings and allow **Screen sharing, Camera, and Microphone**, then restart the browser.             |
| macOS screen recording access blocked           | Go to `System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording → Enable access for your browser → Restart the browser`. |
| Windows privacy settings restricting capture    | Open `Settings → Privacy → Camera and Microphone → Ensure access `is enabled for your browser.                          |
| Unsupported or outdated browser                 | Update your browser and use Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Firefox for best compatibility.                           |

  1. **Screen Share Options Not Visible:** Ensure that your screen-sharing application is updated and that you are logged in correctly. Check your internet connection, as poor connectivity can hinder functionality.
  2. **Application Window Not Listed:** If the desired application isn’t appearing in the sharing options, make sure the application is open and active on your desktop. Restart the application if needed.
  3. **Permissions Problems:** Depending on your operating system, you may need to enable permissions for your screen sharing application to capture the application window.

  * For **Windows**, Go to `Settings > Privacy > Screen Recording` (for Windows 10/11, this option is often under Camera and Microphone settings).
  * For **macOS**, go to `System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab`, and ensure screen recording permissions are enabled for your application.
