# How to disable browser extensions

Browser extensions can sometimes interfere with your exam experience, causing pop-ups, screen-sharing prompts, or unexpected behavior during a proctored session. In this article, you will learn how to disable browser extensions on Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari before starting your exam on Talview.

#### **Before You Begin**

* Make sure you know which browser you'll be using for your exam
* Close any active exam sessions before making changes to your browser settings

#### **Step-by-Step Guide**

**Google Chrome**

1. Open Chrome and click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner
2. Go to **Extensions**, then select **Manage Extensions**
3. Toggle off any extensions you don't need for your exam
4. Refresh the session to apply changes

**Mozilla Firefox**

1. Open Firefox and click the three-line menu in the top-right corner
2. Select **Add-ons and themes**
3. Under **Extensions**, toggle off the ones you want to disable
4. Refresh the session to apply changes

**Microsoft Edge**

1. Open Edge and click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner
2. Go to **Extensions**, then select **Manage extensions**
3. Toggle off the extensions you don't need
4. Refresh the session to apply changes

**Safari**

  **Additional Tips**

  * Disabling extensions rather than uninstalling them lets you turn them back on after your exam
  * If you use multiple browser profiles, repeat these steps for each profile you might use during the exam
  * Ad blockers and VPN extensions are common culprits that interfere with proctoring, check these first.
