# How to allow permissions in Mozilla Firefox?

When you take an assessment or join an interview on Talview, Mozilla Firefox needs permission to access your camera, microphone, and screen sharing. In this article, you will learn how to allow each of these permissions so your session can proceed without interruptions.

### Before you begin

* Make sure you're using the latest version of Firefox. You can check by going to `Settings > General` and scrolling to **Firefox Updates**, or by clicking the `menu > Help > About Firefox`.
* Close any other apps that may be using your camera or microphone, such as Zoom, Teams and Skype.

1. Open your Talview assessment or interview link in Firefox.
2. When Firefox displays a pop-up asking to use your camera and microphone, click **Allow**.
3. If you don't see a pop-up, or if you previously clicked **Don't Allow**, click the **permissions icon** (camera or microphone icon) in the address bar.
4. Click the "**X"** next to the blocked permission to clear it.
5. Refresh the page and click **Allow** when prompted again

<Note>
  If Firefox still doesn't prompt you, you can update permissions from the browser settings:

  * Click the **menu** in the top-right corner of Firefox and select **Settings**.
  * Go to **Privacy & Security** and scroll down to the **Permissions** section.
  * Next to **Camera**, click **Settings** and make sure the Talview site is not listed under blocked sites. If it is, select it and click **Remove Website**.
  * Do the same for **Microphone**.
  * Go back to your Talview link, refresh the page, and click **Allow** when prompted.

### **Allowing screen sharing permissions**

1. When your assessment or interview requires screen sharing, Chrome will display a dialog asking you to choose what to share.
2. Select **Entire Screen** (unless instructed otherwise).
3. Click **Share** to confirm.

<Note>
  If you're on a Mac and screen sharing doesn't start:

  * Go to `System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording`.
  * Make sure **Google Chrome** has a checkmark next to it.
  * If you just added Chrome to the list, quit Chrome completely and reopen it for the change to take effect.
</Note>

> If you're on Windows, screen sharing in Chrome generally works without any additional system-level settings.

<Tip>
  **Additional tips**

  * If you're using Chrome at work or school, your network administrator may have restricted camera, microphone, or screen sharing permissions. Contact your IT team for help.
  * Antivirus or endpoint protection software sometimes blocks camera access even when Chrome shows permissions as allowed. Check your antivirus settings for a webcam or video protection feature and add Chrome as a trusted app.
  * Try opening the Talview link in an incognito window if permissions aren't working as expected. This helps rule out browser extensions that may be interfering.
