# Understanding the Timer and Auto-Submit in an Objective assessment

In this article, you will learn about the **timer** and **auto-submit** features in Objective Assessment. This helps you manage your time and complete the assessment smoothly without needing to manually submit.

### Timer Display Toggle

* You may see a timer during your objective assessment which shows how much time is remaining.
* Timer display can be toggled to **hide the timer** from your view depending on the test settings configured by the administrators or examiners. Use this feature to avoid getting overwhelmed by constantly watching the countdown.
* Hiding the timer means the candidate will not visually see the countdown but the time limit for the assessment still runs in the background.

> **Note:** When there’s **last 10 secs left** to finish the assessment, the color of the timer turns to red automatically.

### Auto-Submit on Timer End

* When the timer reaches zero, the assessment is **auto-submitted** immediately.
* Auto-submission ensures all answers that the candidate provided up to that point are saved and submitted for evaluation, preventing loss of work if the candidate runs out of time.
* This feature is critical in timed assessments to maintain the integrity of the exam and fairness for all candidates by strictly enforcing time limits.

<Tip>
  **Additional Tips:**

  * Always keep track of the time yourself even if the timer is hidden, so you can pace your answers effectively.
  * Ensure a stable internet connection to avoid disruptions that may affect auto-submission at the timer end.
  * Avoid waiting until the last moments to answer questions; the auto-submit triggers promptly as soon as time runs out.
  * If possible, practice with timed sample tests to get comfortable managing your time within the set limits.
