# How to configure self scheduling for a quiz

> Follow these steps to configure self scheduling for your classic quiz, by which students will be required to book a slot before they can attempt it.

## Steps

**1. Navigate to quiz configuration**

* In the desired course, click on quiz type - Classic/New Quiz to access the quiz configurations page.

**2. Access proctoring options**

* On the right side of the quiz configuration page, click the "Proview Proctoring" icon to open a side panel.
* The panel has two tabs: **Proctoring Configurations** and **Playback View**. The Proctoring Configurations tab is open by default.

**3. Specify mandatory fields**

* For the **Live Proctoring Requirements** section, specify the **opening time**, **closing time**, and **time limit**.

  <Note>
    **Setting quiz open date**: Ensure that the quiz's opening time is set at least **48 hours** from the current date and time to allow the proctoring service provider sufficient time to allocate resources for the proctoring session.
  </Note>
* For Classic Quizzes, also set the **quiz password (access code)**.
* Fields not set will show “**Not Set**”, and the "Save" button will be disabled.
* Once the quiz title, time attributes are correctly set, they will turn green and display “**Correctly Set**”.
* Until these mandatory fields are configured, the proctoring and secure browser options will not appear.
* You can also set different open and close times for students at an individual level

    Since proctoring is enabled for this quiz, a message will appear to inform students that the test is proctored, and password protected. They will need to install the [Proview browser extension](https://pages.talview.com/proview-extension/) to obtain the password.

    * Click on **Copy Text** to copy the message.
    * Paste the copied text into the **Description Box**.

**4. Configure proctoring options**

* Return to the quiz and click the "Proview Proctoring" icon.
* Now, the proctoring options will appear. Choose the **organization**, **Proview token**, and **proctoring type** from their respective dropdown menus.

**5. Select scheduling type**

* Select **Live Proctoring**, then a scheduling dropdown will appear. Choose the **scheduling type** from the available options.

\*\*6. Select a proctor \*\*

* Click the **Add Proctor** button.
* A list of available proctors will appear. Select a proctor from the list by clicking on their email ID.
* Next, click the **>>** button to confirm your selection. The selected proctor's email will appear in the **Selected Proctor** column.

    The candidate will be able to book a slot based on this proctor's availability.

\*\*7. Enroll as a proctor \*\*

* Click the **Add Proctor** button.
* At the bottom of the list, click the **Enroll as a Proctor** button.
* Fill in the required fields: **Email**, **Password**, and **Confirm Password**.
* Click **Submit**. You will see a confirmation message indicating that your proctor account has been successfully created.
* Your email will now be listed as a proctor available for selection.
